Busy start to new session

P5/6 have had an extremely busy and productive start to the new session. Mrs Buchanan joined the school and is very happy to be teaching in our class. We spent 2 weeks learning all about school rules and furthering our knowledge on rights and respect. We drew up our own class charter and all have a clear idea of expectations for the year ahead.

Our topic is based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel ‘The Butterfly Lion’ and we are enjoying a range of literacy, art and ICT activities related to this book.

In numeracy we are working on range and type of numbers and have begun focused teaching on addition. In mathematics we are studying angles and how to measure these using a protractor.

Through our lessons within the global citizenship curriculum we are learning about social issues which affect us all. Our health and wellbeing focus is on looking after ourselves to remain healthy and the children are enjoying sharing their ideas and own experiences.

All the children are settled into the routines of P5/6 and are looking forward to the year ahead.
