P5/6 enjoyed a morning of soup making in the life skills room. We decided that it would be fun to make winter vegetable soup together and then to write out our recipes after as our writing lesson. Mrs Buchanan bought the ingredients required and we set to work!
First we learnt about safety and hygiene in the kitchen. It is very important to ensure our hands are washed correctly and that we use cutting tools correctly. We washed and chopped the vegetables first. We finely chopped onions, carrots, swede and potatoes. Next we added vegetable stock pots and a broth mix.
After the water had been added, we cooked the souo for one and a half hours. During this time we had our break and then got to work on writing out our recipes and instructions on how to make the soup.
