Safer Internet Day 2019

Classes across the school have been learning about internet safety as part of Safer Internet Day 2019.

The Digital Leaders produced a poster with their Top 5 Tips for staying safe online and shared this across the school and wider community. They also posted their ideas on Twitter.

P7 have been using Google’s ‘ Be Internet Legends’ programme and have been learning about their ‘ Digital Footprint ‘ and responsible sharing of information. They have also discovered what a ‘ phishing ‘ scam is and that everything online is not always as it seems. P7 now know a range of ways of identifying ‘ phishing ‘ scams and how to respond to them and will continue to develop their understanding of cyber safety over the next few weeks.

P1/2 discussed the Top 5 Tips suggested by the Digital Leaders . They also watched ‘ Lee & Kim’ , a cartoon based superhero who deals with sharing personal information.

Classes in the Junior area and Infants have also discussed the Digital Leaders ideas and considered how they can use theses tips to help them. Google Interland has also been a popular choice for supporting children’s understanding of internet safety.
